Eddy says "It has been an honour to serve as a Councillor for Bixley Ward since 2014. However as I have been supporting Bixley residents since 1987, this is merely a slight unexpected turn in the road. I was devastated to not secure re-election. However I am proud of all the work I have done supporting hundreds of residents in the last 12 years, making Bixley a better place to live, and influencing policy across Ipswich; including the removal of the horrendous cycle wands which had been installed across town in 2020, and backing many other common sense policies for the people of our town.
"I have also been responsible for helping to hold the Labour council's financial management of Ipswich under the microscope.
"Fortunately Bixley still has Lee Reynolds and Richard Pope as your Conservative Councillors keeping up the hard work, and I will be there supporting them and the rest of Ipswich as Conservative Association Chairman.
"Finally I wish to thank the many residents, colleagues and even political opponents who have offered me their best wishes at this time."
