We are proposing to give Young People a Voice in Ipswich
Cllr Nathan Wilson is bringing forward a proposal (motion) to Ipswich Borough Council to establish an Ipswich Youth Council.
A platform for young people aged 14–18 to have their say in the shaping our town.
A Youth Council would:
Provide a real voice for young people in local decision-making
Build leadership skills and opportunities
Strengthen links between young people, councillors, schools, and community groups.
The proposal includes:
Training and mentoring for Youth Council members
Access to resources and support to engage in civic life
An annual joint meeting between Ipswich Youth Councillors and Ipswich Borough Councillors.
Other areas, like East Suffolk, already benefit from Youth Councils and it’s time for Ipswich to join them.
