Labour's Financial Failure

town hall

Across the country it is Conservative councils that provide better services & value for money – something we believe Ipswich residents deserve.

Irresponsible financial management by the Labour administration has resulted in two emergency budgets in the past months that have announced cuts, closures & job losses with the Council shutting all its customer-facing services within the Town Centre.

Sadly, Ipswich charges the highest Council tax of all 188 similar districts in England – a whopping 88% higher than Colchester and 37% higher than Norwich.

  • £22.5 million spent on a business park in Peterborough when all staff were working at home.
  • £9+ million spent on the vacant & vandalised Toys’R’us store which still lies empty.
  • £158k LOST on the Ed Sheeran concerts IBC hosted.
  • £5 million LOST in New Homes Bonus.

This Council has struggled to adapt to the modern way it should conduct business and persisted in operating lossmaking services that have changed little in decades.
Ipswich Conservatives would inject a business-like approach to everything the Council does & work towards making Ipswich a place we can be proud of with services fit for the changes we will all face in the coming years.
