A new no cold calling zone was initiated in Jupiter Road on 14 March, and Cllr John Carnall and Cllr Eddy Phillips (pictured) attended the launch ceremony.

A retired couple in the road was visited by a window company and were inside their house for over an hour putting them through a high pressure sales pitch. The couple’s son contacted the County Council which is responsible for trading standards, and following consultation with the councillors and a survey of residents, it was agreed that this new no cold calling zone would be set up.

All householders were given a welcome pack, which contains information on how to report cold calling incidents, phone numbers, how to deal with uninvited callers, leaflets and stickers.

If you wish your own area/road to be considered for a no cold calling zone, please contact your borough or county councillor.  If you are not in a no cold calling zone, you are urged to be wary of unknown callers.
