Town Centre businesses need the help of the council to thrive in these difficult economic times. One of the main policies of the Labour-run council is for a ‘Thriving Town Centre’ but are they really doing all they can to help?
Conservative councillors believe much more should be done to encourage visitors into the town centre and to get them to stay longer.
At this weeks council meeting we will be asking:-
To improve lighting to create a more inviting and safe environment for all.
To reverse the recent decision to turn the last few free parking spaces around town into Pay & Display.
To offer further business rate relief to businesses in the hospitality, retail & leisure sectors instead of sitting on a pot of over £2million held in reserve for a ‘rainy day’.
To offer discount entertainment package deals when using more than one local business.
Has the £25million given to Ipswich from the Towns Fund increased footfall in the town centre as it was supposed to?
We know more can be done to help Ipswich thrive – does this Labour council agree?
