We are proposing to give Young People a Voice in Ipswich

Cllr Nathan Wilson is bringing forward a proposal (motion) to Ipswich Borough Council to establish an Ipswich Youth Council.

A platform for young people aged 14–18 to have their say in the shaping our town.

A Youth Council would:

✅ Provide a real voice for young people in local decision-making

✅ Build leadership skills and opportunities

✅ Strengthen links between young people, councillors, schools, and community groups.

The proposal includes:

👉 Training and mentoring for Youth Council members

👉 Access to resources and support to  engage in civic life

👉 An annual joint meeting between Ipswich Youth Councillors and Ipswich Borough Councillors.

Other areas, like East Suffolk, already benefit from Youth Councils and it’s time for Ipswich to join them.
