Last week the government announced Abellio Greater Anglia will hold the Eastern Rail Franchise. After a tough bidding process, Abellio Greater Anglia have promised to deliver £1.4 billion of investment over the next nine years. Abellio will deliver:
- More than 1,040 new state of the art carriages by 2020.
- 32,000 more seats by 2021 and free Wi-Fi for all passengers.
- A Commitment to Ipswich to London in 60 minutes.
These improvements will provide jobs, bring economic benefits and cut journey times for commuters.
This is excellent news and Ipswich Conservatives would like to thank Ben Gummer and other MP's in the region for pushing for the investment our train line desperately needs.
