visit

It was good to have the Fire Safety Minister, Lee Rowley at Cardinal Lofts this week, writes Tom. He met with residents, the fire service and was able to see it all for himself.

There was a strong message to the freeholder. For a long time the issues that led to the evacuation of many of our constituents were known about but nothing was done. Now here we are.

Those who are currently in temporary accommodation need certainty with regard to how long it will be until they get back into their homes.

In my view we also need a regulatory framework that ensures this sort of thing cannot happen again. freeholders such as Railpen have a duty of care towards leaseholders and tenants. There needs to be far clearer accountability.
