Ipswich Labour councillors intend to close their Borough-operated town creches.

The Conservative Group on Ipswich Borough Councillors believe that this essential service should be retained for the benefit of local parents, and have found the £65,000 annual savings needed to retain the creches.

To pay for the retention of the service, the Conservatives are proposing an amendment to the 2017/18 Borough budget and will reduce the Ipswich Angle to once per year, and remove the councillor allowances paid to Area Committee chairman.

Conservative Group Leader Cllr Nadia Cenci helped some of the parents in the town centre last Saturday in raising awareness and collecting signatures for a petition to the council (pictured).

The Council's budget will be debated on Wednesday 22 February at the full council meeting.
