The Conservatives are helping to deliver positive change in Ipswich, which will make residents’ lives and businesses better for the future, creating new jobs and opportunities.

The Government has awarded nearly £10m to help pay for infrastructure at the northern fringe development. This will encourage house builders to provide more affordable homes, by freeing up funding which would have had to pay for infrastructure.

The Department for Education has published its “Ipswich Opportunity Area” plan to improve opportunities for young people in our town. Ipswich will be given a share of the £72m of funds available to this scheme, just 1 of 12 area benefitting from this money.

We are committed to improving social mobility for young people and this scheme will not just benefit the young people but everyone around them.

The redevelopment of the Cornhill is taking place, thanks to the combined efforts and contributions from Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Borough Council and others. Some Ipswich residents may be a bit wary of change and the current closure, however once the project is finished, it will transform our town centre and encourage further investment, with more opportunities to shop, eat and drink.  This project has been a long time in the planning, but it is thanks to our former MP Ben Gummer, who brought together various partners to initiate this project some years ago.
