Disappointment over the council's refusal to resurface Sandhurst Avenue this year

Cllr Liz Harsant has been told by the council's road maintainance official that Sandhurst Avenue won't be resurfaced this year. The email she received is below:

“To confirm or telephone earlier conversation Sandhurst Avenue has been removed from this year's surfacing programme as it was felt the Microasphalt treatment would not be effective due to the barrelled shape of the road. Due to the nature of the material it would not give sufficient cover over the crown of the road and would probably flow into the channels where there is insufficient kerb height at the majority of vehicular crossings. For this reason it has been decided to re-bid for the work to include reconstruction of the footways and kerbs as well as resurfacing of the carriageway.

We have bid to Suffolk County Council for this work as a high priority on our 2012/13 maintenance programme, however no funding has been allocated to schemes to date.”
